Careers at Pierce
Consultants
When you work for Pierce, we work for you.
We are dedicated to providing qualified IT, finance and accounting professionals with career opportunities that meet their needs and interests. We take the time to learn about your background, experience, technical proficiency, work preferences and interpersonal skills. Then we strive to find positions that match your career objectives.
Pierce believes that working through large, vendor-managed programs or automated recruiting systems is possible, but it often dilutes our ability to get the details necessary to make precise matches. That is why we aspire to get to know every client personally and develop solid relationships and a clear understanding of their work environment, culture and team dynamic. We then use this information to identify positions for you that are directly aligned with your technical and interpersonal skills and work style preferences.
To ensure that we match you with the right opportunities, Pierce employs a four-step placement process.
Step 1: Determine fit
Our first step is determining how well your skills and abilities match our open positions. We want to make sure if we submit you for a position, that your skill set is appropriate for it, and you would enjoy the work and environment. Therefore we start with some background questions such as:
- What was your role and responsibilities in your most recent jobs?
- What are your technical strengths?
- How long have you worked in each technical area?
- Did you work independently or were you on a team?
- What were your reasons for moving from position to position?
- Are you actively looking for a new position right now?
- Is there any type of position you are looking to focus on or to stay away from?
Step 2: Check references
The account manager for the position we are considering you for will provide the client with a synopsis of your qualifications once we obtain professional references from former employers. The synopsis includes your resume and a summary of your references. A glowing report on your abilities, attitude and work ethic from a previous employer or manager can be more influential than your resume when it comes to getting hired for a job. The most powerful synopses are those that contain praise obtained directly from people you have worked for. Therefore, it is critical that you provide us with three professional references that we can immediately contact.
We have an excellent track record of securing quick interviews and feedback for our candidates when we submit their resumes and synopses with reference details. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary for us to check your references. If we cannot check your references, we will not submit your resume to our clients.
Step 3: Schedule Pierce office visit
The third step in our process is a meeting with you in our office in Holmdel, NJ. We ask you to come into our office for a quick 30-minute meeting, where we can learn more about you and discuss any pending issues regarding the position we have submitted your resume for. We want you to be as knowledgeable and as comfortable as possible if you are invited for an interview with the client.
Step 4: Prepare Candidate for Client Interview
Ideally, steps three and four coincide. If we have already secured client interest in you for a position, we can take time during your office visit to prepare you effectively for your interview. If we have not yet heard back from the client at the time you visit us, we will call you to help you prepare.
